Mary Robinette Kowal "Word Puppet" cover

I am excited to announce that my painting Body Language will be used for the cover of the upcoming release of Word Puppet, and collection of short fiction by Mary Robinette Kowal.  I originally created the painting to go with her short story Body Language that was published in the Intergalactic Medicine Show quarterly.

I loved the original story, which makes me all the more excited and honored to have my painting on the cover of this collection of work (and to get a copy when it comes out this fall.  Thank you Mary, Paula and Prime Books!

Force Cantrithor - book cover

This painting is my sixth painting for Michael McCloskey, done for his latest book, Force Cantrithor.  Lots of fun to work on and if you haven't read his books, you really should treat yourself and go buy them.  They are all priced so that you don't really have to think about it.  Force is priced at $2.99 right now, a bargain.  Here is the blurb from the back side:

Space is vast. No matter how much firepower you have, you can’t defeat your enemy unless you know exactly where and when to strike. That’s why Lieutenant Emil is so critical to his task force. He’s a type of electromagnetic warfare specialist called an emmer serving in an interstellar war. However, Emil is slowly going insane— a path already taken by two other emmers in the task force. He's seeing scenes from all over the ship, noticing things that can’t be real, and starting to doubt his own humanity. What’s worse, the war isn’t going well, and the crew of the flagship Excalibur are dependent upon Emil to do his job better than ever before.

When the alien enemies called the Vothriles ask for a secret meeting in deep space with Emil’s task force, everyone is suspicious. The warship Excalibur heads out to meet with the alien foes that no Terran yet understands. The Vothriles propose joining forces against an even greater common menace, a mysterious enemy code-named "Force Cantrithor".

No one knows if Force Cantrithor can be defeated, or if the Vothriles can be trusted. But it may not matter. How much longer can Emil hold it together, anyway?

I have also enjoyed doing the design work for several of his books, including this one, getting to wear my graphic designer hat for a little and enjoy a little typography.

Trilisk Supersedure

Trilisk Supersedure is the name of an upcoming book by Michael McCloskey.  If you visit my site often, you will recognize the name.  I have been able to do several covers for Michael over the last couple years.  Great books and the price of the ebooks are such a bargain that you should treat yourself today and go buy them.  If you want a primer on this series, follow this link: http://www.squidlord.com/home/writings/pit

I feel that of the three paintings that I have finished for the Trilisk, this is the strongest of them.

I have also been able to do the type for the covers.

The House of Yeel

Here is a painting I was given the green-light to post for a book by author Michael McCloskey, who I did the Great Seal painting for.  This painting was so fun to do.  The book, which will be out next year, is wonderfully original and creative.

I also thought it would be fun to give the type a go:
