Feed My Sheep video

I recorded my painting process for a recent work titled Feed My Sheep.  You can see where I make some changes on the sky and face throughout the process.

When making time lapses, it is important to turn the autofocus off as well as the auto white balance.  I was setup right initially, but would use my camera for other purposes and a couple days, I forgot to turn those off again, whoops!  That is why you get some camera wiggle in parts and at the end when filming the face repaint, the white balance jumps around.

Still, I think the video is worthwhile.  I hope that it will be interesting and beneficial to those that might be new to oil painting.  Thanks for giving it a look!

New piece! "Living Water"

  Woman at the well

“But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”

- John 4:14

In this account we hear Christ bear witness to the woman at the well that He is the way to exaltation.  Christ, the master teacher, uses imagery we can all relate to.  Who has not thirsted and felt that relief and satisfaction of drinking cool refreshing water?

I believe it is a common heritage of the human experience that we thirst for truth as well.  Just as physical water sustains and relieves our thirst, the water that Christ gives us, the Gospel, gives relief to our souls, heals our wounds and makes our burdens light.

Christ stands before not just the woman, but all mankind, and testifies that He is the Son of God.  If we would drink of the truths of the gospel, seek after Him and do His will, we will thirst no more, and those truths will lift us up unto eternal life with our Father in Heaven.

Prints will be available soon in the store!

New painting! "Light of the world"

“I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” - John 8:12 This simple passage of scripture defines much of what it means to be Christian.  To follow Christ means a life of compassion and service.  It does not mean that there will not be heartache or trials.  It does not mean we will not stumble and fall.  Hardship is part of life, but Christ, through His atonement will be there to clear the path back to the light, bringing hope to an imperfect people trying to be better.
